Farmers’ Market Book List
Creating monthly book lists is one of our favorite things to do when putting our sensory kits together! Exposure to books is so important for young children as they build language skills.
We love utilizing our local library to keep our book rotation updated! Below are some of our favorite books about fruits and veggies we are excited to share with you!
Books for ages 0-3
Fruits in Suits by Jared Chapman
This fun and simple read is all about when fruits go to the pool! With bright illustrations and descriptive vocabulary this is sure to be a favorite for your little ones.
Vegetables in Pajamas by Jared Chapman
The perfect book for bedtime. Take a look at all of the fun pajamas veggies wear to bed! This is a great companion to Fruits in Suits and can be read again and again!
Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert
Where do our vegetables come from? Growing Vegetable Soup follows the journey of a soupy dinner from seed, to sprout, to the kitchen. Full of labeled illustrations, this book is a great way to introduce young readers to the process of gardening and where our veggies come from!
Summer Supper by Rubin Pfeffer
A story of supper, from soil to table all told using only words that begin with S! This is such a fun book that will help little ones expand their vocabulary and help appreciate where their meals come from.
We’re Going to the Farmers’ Market by Stefan Page
Come along on a trip to the farmers’ market to get the ingredients for dinner! This rhyming book gives such a cozy fall feel just in time for the changing of seasons. When reading this book be sure to slow down and point out all of the wonderful items on each page to help your child to increase their food vocabulary!

The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli

On the Farm, at the Market by Brian Karas
On the farm, workers pick vegetables, collect eggs, and make cheese. At the market the next day, the workers set up their stands and prepare for shoppers to arrive.
